Reviews

I bought this collection as a gift for someone who enjoys Dicken's books, especially his commentary on the society and goings-on of the time period in which each book occurs. As the title for the product said "unabridged", I trusted that it would be so. Unfortunately, the book really was abridged, as most of the narrator's commentary was cut out. This made it much less enjoyable for the person I gifted it to. "David Copperfield" was only a few hours long (four discs). Another supposedly unabridged edition of "David Copperfield" contains twenty-five discs. If the description for the product had been different, I would not blame the manufacturer - but the title clearly states that the collection was unabridged. If you do not mind losing this part of the books, an abridged collection will not be a problem. However, that was not the only issue. The special effects that are added to this fully dramatized collection are so overdone that they can often be a distraction, and make the story hard to follow and the readers hard to understand.I will be returning this product to find a similar - but better - gift.
